National Gun Dog Championship (NGDC)

The NGDC is a Vizsla-only walking trial with 1-hour braces. A "walking" trial differs from horseback trials in that the handler is on foot. The braces are run for an entire hour, and the dogs are required to retrieve. The NGDC event is held annually and includes an additional stake, Open Puppy, also on foot.

In the NGDC, the entrants must be 6 months of age or older and have placed first, second, third or fourth in any Gun Dog stake or hold a Master Hunter title. Open Puppy entrants must be at least 6 months of age, and no more than 15 months. Qualifying on the Line: All Vizslas running in any National Field event (NGDC, NFC) must be free of any disqualifying faults as stated in the Vizsla standard recognized by the American Kennel Club. The NGDC rotates among different regional clubs each spring, depending on availability of field trial grounds.

All dogs must have a DNA number in order to participate in VCA National Events. Apply for one today through AKC.
